You are going to get an unbiased response to this on Demonland 🙄

We got clobbered for this stuff because we couldn’t keep it quiet (all clubs vary in success with this at different times) and because we were so god damn up our own arses after 2021 with the culture stuff.

When you make yourself a pious target on a pedestal - Australian media is going to do what society wants them to do - bring you down from on high.

I agree with the second paragraph, the second not so much - winning teams have banging on about how great their culture iw since leafing teams and 360 entered  footy lexicon 20 years ago.

But without falling into the woe is us trap, there's no doubt there are larger historical and socialigical factors at play.

Which I'll expand on a later date as I'm on a packed bus to North Melbourne (trains not running- grrrr)

That the AFL doesn’t have an automatic stand down ruling is truly mind boggling

Yeah the difference between how we handle controversy vs Geelong is pretty stark. We leak and constantly defend ourselves in the media, keeping the stories alive and adding fuel to the fire. When the Stengel thing happened Geelong basically just straight-batted it and shut up the shop.

Well they are going to be up against it this time… let’s see how they handle what’s coming

it's quite clear if you follow the line of reporting from last year who the charged parties are

why they have suppression orders on their charges is another matter altogether

Very serious allegations.

Jeez you wouldn't have known it even happened.

Dwayne, Gerard Whateley and their merry men of Geelong supporting friends in the media were kept to silence.

There was very minimal engage at all in phone talk back and completely shut off oxygen to this occurrence.

If ****n makes people sick to the guts.

It’s easy to point fingers at those guys but they are just the front. It’s the power rockers in the background that control the narrative.

Yes only a fool would comment when there is a court suppression order in place.

Right? This incident is very serious but barely a mention publicly and even then it was just a short mention on the 6pm news, then crickets and tumbleweeds. Now, if that was one of our boys…

But Tom Morris is a Melbourne supporter (!)

So he claims. He’s a disgruntled ex-employee and does nothing to benefit the club he supposedly supports.

I don't think you are right because I think we did It, flag, then we did it our way, celebration and then analysis.

So he's supposed to report things in a way that is favourable to MFC. That sounds fair.

A bit left field but the two ACL's over the weekend and it appears the extent of the tragedy reported in the media would make you think it was only Jagga Smith that copped the wrong end of the stick. Now granted that AMW is probably not as prominent as a #3, but it really shouldn't matter. Nobody has even bothered to report on the loss of 2 footballers to LTI in the last 1 week for the Dees. Really pathetic.

I thought that was what the minimum required to permit entrance to this thread? :)

I guess it was only a matter of time until the segment of perennial victims on ‘land found a new reason for victimhood status.

There's becoming a fair list of names down at Deliverance Park. I'm stunned. Stunned I tell you. Particularly after being routinely reminded that Geelong is the best run AFL club in Australia. Along with the Swannies. Gawd, next thing they'll be telling me that there are issues at Sydney. Lol, as if.

Gotta be fake news.
