  1. Interesting! I've just realised I'm not across who our new assistant coaches are, after McQualter and Stafford left. I know we've moved Chaplin to the forward line, but who else is around the joint now? Is this partly because we couldn't find someone to replace Yze's tactical mind? I participate in the attention economy on Demonland, although generally I sprinkle rewards via reactions rather than commenting
  2. It's good the Crows appreciate him!!
  3. Thank you for a great podcast, boys! (And thanks for battling on in the face of various tech hurdles, Andy!) I've already listened twice (don't tell my boss haha). Over the break I'd stopped listening to podcasts with as much frequency, but now I realise I just had a Demonland podcast shaped hole in my heart ❤️ 💙
  4. He's gone straight to the pool room at the Crows (ie their leadership group) 😭
  5. Seems like we're the second, after Lego sponsored the Matildas last year! https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/lego-australia-partners-melbourne-demons-afl-club/ Idk about how prevalent sponsorships are globally but apparently they sponsor the F1?
  6. Glad you all had a good break (certainly well deserved). I'm excited for the first episode of the podcast this year! Based on pre season track watching and the hit out against the Roos, do you think our capacity to execute the new, faster moving game plan has improved (compared to last season's difficulties)?
  7. This was something that I noticed when I first moved to Sydney - there are particular rugby games which are TV events. The Sydneysiders will head to a pub or otherwise do a viewing party to watch those games, and will banter during the week leading up to the relevant game (generally finals and the state of origin games). However, most people never go to a game or think about it outside of those times. The focus seems to be on the communal experience instead. I was negotiating a sponsorship agreement against a few different rugby league corporates at one point and (as a pure AFL devotee) went to ask a number of loud "rugby head" colleagues questions about how the season etc was structured. Surprisingly not many could tell me much or answer my basic questions... I ended up using Wikipedia and speaking to one person who was actively a rugby follower to find out more. Very different interaction to how AFL is treated by fans!
  8. I went to the beach the other week (rare for me despite living in Syd) and got quite roasted despite 2 applications of sunscreen. Think I'm in the market for a burkini 😅
  9. Almost like there was some sort of disease in recent years that weakens the immune system and damages organs like lungs, thus causing susceptibility to other diseases 🥲
  10. This annoys me more because it's coming from Andrew Brayshaw... I'd care less if it was from a random freo player!
  11. We've had quite a few players this year and last year with infections... maybe worth keeping some betadine in the change room and reminding the boys about the value of a soapy shower!
  12. Disappointing but it takes guts to admit something like that imo. Change doesn't happen by pretending the past didn't happen, so hopefully this helps rejuvenate us
  13. You and I might need Redleg to defend (I believe he's a barrister?). I'm a humble solicitor, churning in the contract mines. We'll not go far together in court, I fear, GW! As much as I would say you're innocent... surely being a bomber supporter is considered provocation haha
  14. Likewise! And glad that my bribery by cake works haha Also don't worry GW, I still live in Melbourne in my mind 😂 Accidentally even said to a waiter the other day that my friend "was visiting us in Melbourne from... Melbourne" which caused said friend and waiter to stare at me in concern
  15. I was so excited (as I'm based in Sydney) to make that game and sit with the you and the rest of the lovely Demon Army! Except then I had to work while at the game and when I was finally free in the final quarter, we fell off the cliff 🥲
  16. You can't react to your own post 😂 but dw, I reacted to yours!
  17. The SBS article (posted earlier in this thread) is interesting about the traineeship pathway being underpaid and that Grill'd has apparently set the wages lower for that type of role since it is focused on skill acquisition at "Hamburger University". I know Maccas has a similar program (also called something about a University lol) - wonder if there are similar issues? There are new criminal offences for wage theft from 1 Jan this year, but that's aimed at more traditional case of underpayment... Will be watching, I really love Grill'd since I don't eat at other fast food chains!
  18. Neale's acceptance speech was selfless and visionary. Not a dry eye in the house during, for good reason. What a well deserved award for all of his hard work!
  19. A good pun is hard to beat! I'd have to listen to Gus and Gawny again to confirm, Gus told some good stories about nicknames arising from certain deeds or misdeeds (like someone abandoning through golf course during a storm)
  20. I think late last year there were some posts talking about how his hand is finally fully healed and that it has made a big difference to his ability to use it (in both football and life, given it was quite a bad injury)
  21. You've managed to snag ( 😉 ) a great photo of some of the best of the DA!
  22. This is so lovely to hear, how nice for May!!
  23. That's hilarious! I did something similar once with Wil Anderson at airport security. Was literally listening to the Wilosophy podcast while in line. Security guard and Wil both complimented my socks when I went through the scanner. I turned round, finally clocked him and blurted out "Thank you, Wil Anderson" and ran off haha
