MFC Nicknames 2025
Some pretty good ones there. Here are my suggestions for possible nicknames for those players who don't seem to have them...yet? Andy Moniz-Wakefield - Monza, Mozza, Mozzy, Wakey, The Hyphen. Luke Kentfield - Kents, Kento, Kenta, The Pumpkin. Jed Adams - Addz, Addo, Gomez, Fester, Lurch (a few Addams Family references there).

Hawks seek to add NGA prospect
True, we can only speculate. I would hope that due to MFC President Brad Green's commitment to transparency that he would tell us if a formal complaint about the NGA system has been in motion. However, perhaps the MFC is waiting for a response from the AFL first. Anyway, I guess I am still angry that the Demons missed out on Mac Andrew a couple of years ago.

MFC Nicknames 2025
I have never given a Demons player their own nickname before. We shall see if it catches on with his teammates I guess? I think "The Bison" suits Harvey Langford due to his strength and determination. He looks like the type of player who is ultra competitive and hates losing too. I am sure fans have suggested nicknames for Demons players before, but I do agree that it's usually teammates who choose them. I never had any choice in the nickname I was given when I played footy. 🤣 Obviously, commentators (such as Rex Hunt back in the 1990s and Brian Taylor in recent times) choose nicknames for players too, but whether or not they are taken up by teammates is another matter altogether. Nevertheless, I would be quite pleased if Brian Taylor or Bruce McAvaney started calling Harvey Langford "The Bison" but we shall have to wait for the AFL season to properly begin and Harvey also needs to earn his spot in the team.

It's all about the fabric and the culture of Australian Rules Football. Gotta have your nicknames! 😁 Even better when there's a bit of a background story behind them.

Hawks seek to add NGA prospect
Totally agree with your comments. It is disgracefully unfair! 😡 I am still hoping that our President Brad Green can put aside a mere 10 minutes or so to write a formal letter of complaint to the AFL about this matter. We should be lobbying the AFL to change this grossly unfair set of rules that denies us access to Tairon Ah-Mu.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Here's some highlights videos of Jai "Culls" Culley for those interested. My apologies if any of the highlights are repetitive. Fingers crossed that the Melbourne Demons media department do an interview with Jai Culley sometime soon. 🤞🏻

@Ghostwriter mentioned that Jai Culley's nickname is Culls. Will be interesting if any new nicknames are discovered or created for Melbourne players throughout season 2025.

SSP contenders
I saw this article on Zero Hangar about the SSP and why it shouldn't be extended. https://www.zerohanger.com/why-the-afl-shouldnt-be-extending-the-ssp-window-158873/ While I do have sympathy for the 2nd tier competitions, the only real way to deal with this issue is to increase AFL list sizes. Melbourne and Carlton would not have been in such dire need then. If each AFL team is given another 5 or 6 extra list spots to cushion the effects of any numerous injuries, then you don't have to worry about last minute recruiting as much. Furthermore, you can bring back reserves teams for the 2nd tier competitions as well. That way you don't have AFL clubs scrambling around trying to get last minute recruits from the VFL, SANFL, WAFL etc which then makes the clubs in those leagues suffer. As the old saying goes, you shouldn't be "robbing Peter to pay Paul". In the end, it is up to the AFL to show initiative and use it's huge profits to financially support the 2nd tier competitions and grassroots football. The more money that is invested in the lower levels of football the more that the AFL and AFL supporters will benefit in the long run. Stronger grassroots football and stronger 2nd tier competitions will in turn create a stronger AFL. Let's hope that the AFL focuses on rectifying this issue for the long term survival of Australian Rules Football.
