  1. Looking at the performance of Collingwood's players, they have immense talent on every line. If they stay healthy, they will be very hard to beat. Adding Houston and Membrey as well... even their youth play like 100+ gamers.
  2. How does 41k compare to this time last year?
  3. I was ready to reignite the "Is Goody still the right man?" thread.
  4. Fair Work signed off on the traineeships. The union says they're not worthwhile but if you're keen for a career in hospitality it can get you a great gig managing a bar or restaurant. Many fast food joints do the same thing. I got paid less back in the day at Maccas to do the same thing. I'm sure businesses are taking advantage of it but Grill'd did nothing wrong legally.
  5. I think it's fair. Preseason chatter is always about teams that finished strong + ladder position. I remember David King saying at the end of last year he expects us to return to finals. I think the reality is we have plugged a lot of holes but we need a gameplan change to contest. Four straight finals exits, and a capitulation towards the end of last year rightly raises doubts. If we'd finished top 8 and won a final then I'd say we are being underrated but otherwise I'd say the ratings are about right (except the ones saying we'll be bottom 4). No one is going to risk being ridiculed for saying we are a contender when the reality is there are far too many unknowns about how we'll perform.
  6. you know what i mean ๐Ÿ˜
  7. McAdam's best is fridge at the absolute best.
  8. I think the benefit of social media is that it impacts the otherwise disengaged. I remenber in the 00s and 2010s at uni and just meeting random expats and students, you'd ask them who they supported and it was either Geelong or Hawthorn. The exposure builds over time and this leads to purchase intent. The algorithm serves the engaged audience which builds exponentially the more people are engaged. Do you honestly think GWS gets as many members as it did in its early years without social media? Does Tassie get 100k signed up members without its social media exposure? Social media is about converting the disengaged and turning them into customers/stakeholders. If you just preach to the converted then you don't see any growth.
  9. We missed the initial social media crazy in the late 2000s/early 2010s when Facebook and Twitter were blowing up. It makes a huge difference.
  10. Before the start of the 2021 season we had the 16th easiest draw according to this article. https://archive.is/5bPrm
  11. I would expect stronger crowds North GWS Freo and GC. I absolutely love the day games. On reflection, our exposure hasn't taken a huge hit - we will still have 11 free-to-air games in the first 14 rounds. That's versus 12 in the first 14 this season. Albeit with more Sunday 3:20pm games.

I actually quite like it. Doesn't try too hard. I immediately saw the "rising" sun reflection on the water. Also gives me Commodore 64 vibes lol
  13. There's a reason why teams are locking away players for 7-10 years and backending their contracts. Oliver's contract looks bad now but in 5 years it'll be pretty normal for a player of his caliber.

Absolutely nothing about this makes sense and I'm happy people on Twitter are starting to notice, too. 1. Oliver is happy and ready to go for 2025 in red and blue. 2. Overnight, he is shopped around, and suddenly ends up on a farm on the outskirts of Geelong. Okay? 3. He suddenly wants to get to Geelong. After one meeting on a farm. No tour of facilities. No chat to the coach. Nothing. 4. Now he is willing to take a pay cut. Two sources - one from Geelong and one from his management group - say this on condition of anonymity. You're telling me this guy wants to leave a $1.5 million a year contract on the table, to take a paycut to play for Geelong? Overnight? Suddenly willing to take a paycut? Either this is absolute lunacy and just a made up story, or Geelong is pulling serious shifties.

It is Media Management 101 when you can't definitively answer: You don't lie, and you don't tell the truth. You dance around the truth and sit on the lie. Key messages: Clayton is very important to our team, he's highly valued by us and we love him at the club. Trade period is the only time of year where teams can come together to talk about improving their lists. During trade period you get trade offers, and you might spend 5 seconds or 5 days weighting up that offer. We are not actively seeking to trade Clayton. We can't stop teams from actively pursuing him or any other player during trade period.
