Torn meniscus. Operation happened this week, will be out for a while.
  2. Torn meniscus. Has had the operation, will be out a little while though.
  3. I didn't say it would stay with the premiers, but that's a pretty big gamble to say we have to at least make a semi for the trade to simply be equal worth. Also, who even knows if FA compensation will exist next year? Will there be priority picks for anyone next year? Just more gambles. I prefer to play it safe than gamble away our future.
  4. I'm just walking through the hypotheticals..
  5. Errrrr no, but you seem to think we're going to win the flag if you think next year's second rounder will be lower than 36...
  6. You do understand that IF Dunn gets traded THEN the rest of the scenario changes yeah?
  7. So you'd sacrifice potentially 10 draft spots just to draft this year rather than next? Doesn't make sense to me.
  8. Ah yep, surely with Lewis "popping up" it means Newton's fate is surely sealed? I'm not a massive fan, but the FD seem to love Wagner and he seems a lock to be upgraded, so with Dunn, Dawes and Newton all a decent chance to go and then Wags upgraded, it leaves us with 3 spots yeah? Still feel Mahoney has some kind of pick trade up his sleeve...
  9. But as you've already said "billy" there's still a day to go, and if Dunn leaves you would think those picks will look very different, changes the whole thing doesn't it?
  10. Geez that's a massive slide in points from 47 to 57, didn't realize the difference was so great. As for our list, as it stands we have 1 free spot right? So if we traded Dunn and delisted Dawes that makes 3 spots. Then using 1 draft pick and upgrading two rookies fills those 3 spots. Correct? And we don't have to use all our picks, just 3. I know we can use our last picks to upgrade, but why would we bother using pick 84 in the draft?
  11. Then delist Dawes, hopefully get a speedy mid with pick 47 and rookie list a key back and a ruckman.
  12. Calm down mate. Maybe read some of my other posts, like the above.
  13. Surely we won't be even thinking about Barlow now after getting Lewis? Lewis and Hibberd are upgrades on Jones and Grimes too.
  14. We just differ on the value of the late picks this year I guess. I don't see us getting much with pick 84.
  15. But as Jaded pointed out, we'll have better picks next year, would rather use them to draft players.
  16. Because I think those two guys will be better than players we draft with those picks.
  17. Next move should be: Trade Dunn and 57 for Collingwood's pick 47. Use pick 47 in the draft and then upgrade Wagner and Smith.
  18. There is a possibility we could get an upgrade on pick 57 for Dunn, then use that pick and upgrade Wagner and Smith.
  19. OFFICIAL: The Pig is in the yard. Repeat. The pig is in the yard.
  20. Reckon there'll be a swap of late picks or something too, but that's just IMO
  21. Connors on Trade Radio... On Michael Hibberd: We could "take it to the bank" that the Essendon defender would become a Demon. The deal was unlikely to include future draft picks but it would be "a bit more complicated" than simply a second-round selection. "Essendon's been wonderful in their dealings, from (CEO) Xavier Campbell down to (list manager) Adrian (Dodoro)," Connors said. "I think they've been keen to get this going. I've respected their position of really wanting a pick in this year's draft and there's a lot of goodwill between Melbourne and Essendon and I'd be surprised if that's not done very, very soon."
  22. Plus, Hibberd said he would happily go back to Essendon if a trade couldn't get done, so you'd think it wouldn't last long in court.
  23. Let's not forget, in our rush to get Hibberd and give Essendon this year's pick, that we still have to use draft picks this year. We will still be taking at least a couple of kids out of this draft. Sure Taylor is a genius, but the further down the order we go the less chance we give ourselves of getting a genuine player for us. It's easy to think of it as just draft picks, but that draft pick will be a player we are required to sign and have take up a spot on our list. So it's not just about if Hibberd is worth pick 29 this year, but also if we're going to get players worth a spot on our list with the picks we have left this year. This is why the deal is taking so long and Mahoney is pushing it so hard, it's more complicated than some are making out.
